The long-winding saga of Cliff Harris with the Oregon Ducks concluded earlier today. And now we know the reason as to why he's out of Eugene. Rob Moseley of the Eugene Register Guard found this nugget from Fresno.
Harris being dismissed from Oregon football for marijuana possession? Shocking!
Harris has lived on the line too much, apparently as far back as his high school days. The Ducks supposedly were going to rely on their pass defense to be one of their biggest strengths this season, but Harris's struggles off the field kept him from playing most of the season. Without Harris, the Ducks have managed to cope fairly well at cornerback, but their pass defense (and most notably their special teams) have struggled at times to play up to the level they're capable of playing at. But Oregon is probably ready to move on and find players who don't bring distractions off the field.
