Sidney Rice Injury: Seahawks WR To Be Placed on Injured Reserve, According to Pete Carroll

The Seattle Seahawks could ill afford losing any of their big time playmakers for any time during the season, but unfortunately will be without wide receiver Sidney Rice for the rest of the season as he is to be placed on injured reserve according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter on Twitter

Pete Carroll said Seahawks will place WR Sidney Rice on injured reserve today.

Rice was knocked out of last week's meeting with Redskins with a concussion, though coach Carroll made it clear that Rice's third concussion in the past year would put an end to his season.

Rice's injury problems continue to mount up after suiting up in only 15 of a possible 32 games over the last two seasons. Rice is only 25, but after his essentially lost season in 2011, is going to have to prove his worth in 2012. Ben Obomanu should see an increase in snaps in Rice's absence, though Doug Baldwin will likely see an increase in production as well.
