Sidney Rice Injury: With Seahawks WR Likely Out Thursday, Ben Obomanu To Get The Start

With Sidney Rice all but officially ruled out for Thursday's matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles because of a concussion, Seattle's depth at wide receiver will be tested. First up on the depth chart is sixth-year player Ben Obomanu

Obomanu will step in and see significant snaps if Rice is unable to go, as is expected. As Clare Farnsworth reported, the Seahawks love Obo's do-everything attitude and are looking forward to seeing how he can contribute this week with Rice ailing.

"He's just what you're looking for," Carroll said of Obomanu. "He gets it. He's working really hard. He understands everything. He's adaptable to the positions and the different aspects of the positions - whether you're asking him to block, or go down field, or make the tough catches inside.

"He can do everything. He's just grown into a real favorite of ours because he's so flexible and he has the versatility. We'll count on him."

Obomanu has 28 receptions this season for 285 yards and two touchdowns. He's also a strong contributor on special teams and at 28, is one of the elder statesmen on the team; he also possesses the second longest tenure on the Seahawks, behind only Leroy Hill

He won't be alone though, as Golden Tate is expected to continue to see significant snaps and Deon Butler may even be activated this week after missing the first twelve.
