The shootout between the Arizona State Sun Devils and the Oregon Ducks is living up to every expectation so far.
Heading into halftime, the Ducks are clinging to a 21-17 lead, thanks in large part to heroics by quarterback Darron Thomas. He completed a 28-yard touchdown pass to Lavasier Tuinei to knot the game at 14-14 early in the second quarter.
After holding ASU to a field goal, Thomas led the Ducks on a long drive with less than a minute left in the second quarter before tossing a pass to the corner of the end zone, where it was hauled in masterfully by David Paulson, whose fancy footwork with 0:27 left in the second quarter put Oregon on top.
This is looking to be a close and potentially high-scoring game the rest of the way. Both teams have racked up nearly 200 passing yards, and all the players look like they're fired up and show no signs of slowing any time soon.
