Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports on Twitter that the Seattle Seahawks will cut ties with defensive lineman Nick Reed on Saturday.

Reed recently had arthroscopic knee surgery and was expected to miss a few weeks.
An injury settlement functions like a release because it severs the ties between player and team. It does, however, provide monetary compensation to the player and allows him to pursue opportunities with other teams.
The move comes as something of a surprise because Reed was recently projected to make the 53 man roster by FieldGulls.com.
