University Of Oregon Signs Chip Kelly To Six-Year Contract Extension

The University of Oregon has issued a press release that states that head football coach Chip Kelly has been signed to a six-year contract extension.  George Schroeder of the Eugene Register-Guard has posted the release in full here.

University of Oregon second-year head football coach Chip Kelly, who guided the Ducks to unprecedented success a year ago, has agreed to a six-year contract extension designed to retain him as the university's head coach through at least the 2015 season.

The first year of his new pact will guarantee the Manchester, N.H., native a minimum of $2.4 million in addition to the customary incentives tied to conference and national championship finishes, national rankings and his teams' academic success.

Given the size of the contract Kelly will likely be able to afford a full hat rather than the visor he is known for wearing on game days.

Under Kelly, Oregon went to the Rose Bowl last year and is currently ranked in the top 5 this season.
