Via the twitters of Shannon Drayer and Larry Stone, Shawn Kelley is facing elbow surgery.
According to Drayer, it could be a year before Kelley will be ready to pitch again. He might be able to take the mound in the spring for the Mariners, but really, everything is up in the air right now. They’re unsure what they might find, and the doctors are still evaluating Kelley’s tests.
A later twitter from Ryan Divish stated that Kelley is holding out hope that he won't have to have surgery. Doctors will be taking a stress X-ray, checking to see if his ligiment is stretched out. If it is, it's surgery time.
