Leroy Hill Suspended One Game For Violating NFL Conduct Policy

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill was placed on injured reserve last week, but the NFL still handed down a one-game suspension, and additional one-game fine, for violating the league's personal conduct policy. The suspension was expected for Hill after two offseason arrests stemming from a domestic violence and drug charge.

Leroy Hill Restructures Contract, Will Be A Free Agent In 2011

Seattle Seahawks Linebacker Leroy Hill agreed to restructure the terms of the six-year $36 million contract he signed in May 2009. The Hawks linebacker will take a salary reduction, but gets a chance to prove himself on the field and hit the open market after the season.

The former franchise player, already facing a one-game NFL suspension to open the regular season, recently agreed to a salary reduction from $6 million to $2.125 million as part of a deal wiping out the remaining years of his previous contract, according to a source.

After offseason domestic violence and drug charges stemming from separate incidents, Hill had been on the outs with the team, even being told to stay away from team headquarters while his charges were pending. The Seahawks will be without Hill for the season opener while he serves a suspension for violating the NFL substance abuse policy.

Hill, who may have been on the 53-man roster bubble, now will likely make the team and get a chance to impress potential offseason suitors. The Seahawks cut their losses and still get one more year out of Hill at a reduced price.

The Hawks kick off their final preseason game on Thursday before making final roster cuts on Saturday.
