Matt Barrows is reporting that Seattle has traded a 2011 sixth-round pick for former first-round pick Kentwan Balmer. Seattle was a favorite destination for Balmer as decided by mock draft mongers. He didn't fit then general manager Tim Ruskell's profile, but he apparently matches Pete Carroll's hunger for reclamation projects and general manager John Schneider's evaluation of a quality return for a future sixth-round pick.
Balmer played sparingly for the 49ers and was "AWOL" for San Francisco's training camp. That absence forced the move. Seattle now takes their shot to see if they can generate more value from the 23 year old.
