WSU Baseball Players Paris Shewey, David Stilley Arrested Thursday Morning

Washington State University baseball pitchers David Stilley, Paris Shewey and three others were arrested for possession of marijuana under 40 grams and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia early Thursday morning after Pullman police served a search warrant on a residence in Pullman's College Hill neighborhood.

According to Pullman Police Commander Chris Tenant, all five, including Stilley and Shewey, were cited and released shortly after the arrest. Both charges are misdemeanors carrying a maximum sentence of 90 days in jail and fines ranging from $250 to $1,000.

WSU Sports Information Director Bill Stevens said Shewey and Stilley have been suspended from team activities while the athletic department gathers the facts relating to the case.

Shewey, a workhorse for the Cougs last year, appeared in 30 games, compiling a 7-3 record with a 3.57 ERA while pitching mostly in relief. With previous closer Adam Conley moving to the rotation late last season, Shewey figured to be the closer as a senior this year.

Stilley's sophomore season was marred by injuries, as he made just seven appearances. He posted a 2-2 record with a 6.75 ERA. The lefty is thought to be a candidate to fill in the back end of the rotation.
